I have always fancied the New York kind of restaurant, the one that we normally see in movies. The pleasure of taking every bite of the waffle or sandwich and staring at the busy metropolis, with the sound of honking, people passing by and chattering, and just that cozy feeling while living in the city make everything a complete scene in a movie. I have always felt it that way. But I never thought it would be as gleaming as one restaurant in the heart of Bonifacio Global City.
Chelsea Grand Café, as inspired by Chelsea Market in New York, has recreated a whole dining experience, well, at least to the Filipino taste. Just those long-glass windows, homey façade, and slight touches of reds, whites, and blacks make it all legit. I just can’t believe I can live the New York kind of food experience.
The style and design has the homey feel. The visibility of how food is prepared and the ingredients make everything cozy. Doesn’t feel restrictive like any fine-dine restaurant.
The restaurant is essentially what the food is, they say. It’s the depth of what Chelsea really is. I decided to take a peek at their breakfast meals and day-starters. And so, I invited colleagues, who are definitely foodies, to give it a thumb up or down.
